Good business administration is an essential requirement common to all industries and sectors, both public and private. The Business and Administration NVQ is designed to reflect the most up-to-date business theory and practice and will enable you to assess your knowledge and increase your contribution to the workplace. Like all NVQs this qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to your ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with your work.
The NVQ in Business and Administration level 3 is for you if you work in a business, clerical or administrative role, and have some responsibility for resources, systems or people in your workplace. Typical job roles may include: administrators, co-ordinators, team leaders, supervisors or office managers.
Level 3 recognises complex work skills including supervisory responsibilities. It requires you to have a wide range of work activities and to be directly involved in developing, implementing and maintaining administrative procedures whilst working with customers and clients.
To achieve a full award at Level 3 you must complete 6 units in total; 2 mandatory units and 4 optional units. Optional units are split into groups A and B, 3 optional units must be selected from group B. It is best to choose the optional units that best match the work you do.
Today I would like to present to you the different units within this course particularly the mandatory units, these are Unit 301 & Unit 302 and how you can complete them using our products and services, SEE WHAT YOU WILL GET
The 2 mandatory units are:-
Unit 301- Carry out your responsibilities at work.
There are 32 knowledge questions and 4 elements of performance indicators within this unit and you will need to show that you are informed about them all and understand how to apply them in the work that you do. The performance indicators are summarized under the following sub- headings:-
- Communicate information
- Plan and be accountable for your work
- Improve your own performance
- Behave in a way that supports effective working
If you have achieved your NVQ level 2, you will observe that the criteria in Unit 201 are somewhat similar to the ones in this Unit 301; however you have to demonstrate a higher level of understanding especially when answering the knowledge questions.
This unit will allow you to demonstrate your communicating, researching, negotiating, planning, time management, problem solving, evaluation and team working skills. You will show that you communicate effectively, accept responsibility for your own work and its delivery, improve your own performance and behave in a way that encourages effective working.
In this unit you will learn new techniques on how to manage business information, plan your time and your workload, manage problems at work, cope with pressure, develop a resilient attitude when faced with set backs, support your colleagues and understand why teamwork is critical to business success. Finally, you will discover how to improve your own performance at work through taking responsibility for your own learning and development.
Unit 302- Work within your business environment
There are 36 knowledge questions and 6 elements of performance indicators within this unit and you will need to show that you are informed about them all and understand how to apply them in the work that you do. The performance indicators are summarized under the following sub- headings:-
- Work to achieve your organization’s purpose and values
- Apply your employment responsibilities and rights
- Support sustainability
- Support diversity
- Maintain security and confidentiality

Like I discussed earlier above, if you have achieved your NVQ level 2, you will observe that most of the criteria in Unit 202 are similar to the ones in this Unit 302. You are therefore advised to demonstrate to a reasonable standard a higher level of understanding especially when answering the knowledge questions.
This unit will allow you to demonstrate your planning, reading, communicating, monitoring, team working, problem solving and interpersonal skills. You will show that you work effectively within your organisation by supporting its purpose and values, applying employment rights and responsibilities, supporting sustainability, respecting diversity, protecting security and confidentiality and managing risks.
