Is about health and safety of yourself and individuals

1.  Describe the group you work with and the common accidents/hazards they are likely to experience
(i) What group of individuals do you work with?
(ii)  What accidents and hazards is this group likely to experience?

2.  Describe how you make sure the environment is safe before beginning work with an individual
(i)  Location of where i am working with individual?
(ii)  What i do to make sure the environment is safe?

3.  Describe a time when you have had to deal with an accident, health care emergency, fire, or a breach of security
(i)  What happened
(ii)  How i dealt with this
(iii)  Where/who i got support from
(iv)  How i supported the individual
(v)  How i supported other individuals in the area
(vi)  Who i reported it to and the records i completed

4.  Describe how you carry out the following activities and take into account the individual&#039;s presonal preferences.
  ACTIVITY                             HOW I WOULD DEAL WITH THIS
(i) Give an individual a wash 
(ii) Help an individual to change an incontinence pad
(iii)  Dispose of an incontinence pad
(iv)  Dispose of unwanted medication
(v)  Moving an individual with poor mobility - e.g. from wheelchair to bed
(vi)  Carrying shopping, moving furniture etc

5.  Look through the policies and guidelines your organisation has provided and complete the following table:

A PRACTICAL WAY I USE THIS AT WORK

(i)  Health and Safety at work
(ii)  Notification of staff whereabouts
(iii)  First aid and Emergency Treatment
(iv)  Security
(v)  Protective clothing e.g. gloves and aprons
(vi)  Fire
(vii)  Reporting accidents
(viii)  Infection control
(ix)  Risk assessment

6.  Identify how you reduce the risk of spreading infection when carrying out the following task and duties:
- Identify possible infection risks and hazards
-  Describe actions to prevent spread of infection

(i)  Assisting a client to use the toilet
(ii)  Assisitng a client to have wash/bath
(iii)  Changing soiled personal clothing
(iv)  Removing an infected dressing
(v)  Draining a catheter bag
